After we dock at Ushuaia, we travel by catamaran along the Beagle Channel, heading out of the Bay toward many islands with birds and other wildlife. We reach Hammer Island, where there is a thriving penguin colony that is here from October through March. These are Magellan penguins, which are delightful but a little smaller than some other species.
