Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm is called the "Venice of the North" because of its intricate waterways. The highlight of this tour was going to the Stadshuset or City Hall. This is the site of the annual Nobel Prise banquet, and features many murals and mosaics. Especially fabulous is the "gold room" which is done entirely of mosaic tiles - most of which are gold sandwiched between layers of glass. We also saw the Vasa, a 17th century war-ship which sank a few feet out of the harbor on it's maiden voyage.
