The Philae Temple is perched on an island. This complex dates from the 26th Dynasty, with additions through the Roman period. It was dedicated to Isis and pilgrims would come from all over the Mediterranean to worship here. This temple was underwater for some time after the Old Dam was first built. A coffer was built around it, the water pumped out, and the temple was dismantled and reassembled on Agilika Island where it is today.
