Dendera is located on the west bank of the Nile north of Luxor. Here is the Temple of Hathor which is from the Greco-Roman Period. It is dedicated to the goddess Hathor and her mythology relating to her consort Horus of Edfu. This area has a lot of relief carvings. Within the mud-brick enclosure walls are the temple, two birth houses, a Coptic Basilica, a sanitarium, a sacred lake, and the temple to Isis. One of the halls has the Roman signs of the zodiac along with astronomical figures. There is a relief depicting the royal figure of Cleopatra VII on the exterior wall of the temple.
