Zion National Park

Utah, just north of Grand Canyon

On our way to Zion we stop in Konab to see the Western Frontier Movie Set, where several films were made. Then a 20 mile detour to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. This is a state park. The sand is very fine and windswept, but overall not very impressive.

The drive through Zion is very pretty, even from the highway. We stayed in Springdale which is where the free trams begin. You cannot drive into the park off the highway. (The highway, however, is in the park, so you pay to drive through.) The rocks are so close to you, it is difficult to get a good photo of the whole mountain. From here, we head for home. We'll have to see more of southern Utah another trip.
