This Panama Canal cruise started in Ft. Lauderdale and arrived in Los Angles 17 days later. We were on the Prinsendam and is the smallest of the Holland America ships, which holds 750 passengers, plus a crew of 300. The staterooms on the Holland America ships seem larger than those on other lines, which is one reason we keep choosing them.

The Panama Canal is the only place where the sun rises in the Pacific Ocean and sets in the Caribbean. For the most part the weather was good - warm during the day and cooler at night. Since this cruise was going in January, there was hardly anyone on the ship under 60 years of age - crew not included. Here's the route map:
