Guatemala has a lot of farming of all kinds. arabic coffee, sugar cane, bananas, etc. They get 83" of rain a year, between May and October, so everything is nice and greeen. There are 3 active volcanos out of their 33. Guatemala is a very populous country with 12 million people. About half are Maya - both Maya and Spanish are spoken. Here we chose to tour historic colonial Antiqua, which is a 2 hour drive from the coast. We stop at a cathedral, a convent, museums, and jade factory. |
