Castles along the Rhine River

The Rhine is Germany's longets and most important river, and Europe's busiest waterway. It is connected to both the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea via other canal systems. As you can see it was cloudy most days.

There are numerous castles and cathedrals along the Rhine. There is the famous Katz and Maus Castles and the Pfalzgrafenstein fortress. A beautiful stretch of the Rhine - we also pass the Lorelei Rock. (no photo tho).   This is also a big wine growing region. Our next stop is in Rudesheim.
