Wertheim |
|
The original name Wertheim means something like hometown on a safe bank. It is located at the meeting of the Main and Tauber Rivers. During the 12th Century, the Princess of Wertheim had the Upper Castle, the great hall of which has survived. In the 16th Century the Lower Castle was built. It was destroyed, however, by imperial troops and is one of the largest castle ruins in Germany. A pretty and typical German town. |
